Pasko sa KULTURA 2025 Parol Workshop
Celebrate the holiday season with KAPISANAN Philippine Centre by making a parol as part of Pasko sa KULTURA 2025 programming!
You'll learn the cultural significance of the parol (holiday star lantern) and then learn how to craft your own with artist and educator Maria Patricia Abuel.
You will also have the opportunity to be part of Kislap ng Kapwa (Spark of Shared Humxnity), an art installation at Pasko sa Kultura 2025 Filipino Winter Art Festival by displaying your parol alongside parols by community members. Learn more about the festival at kultura.ca.
This parol workhop is in partnership with Cambio & Co. and Café Khela. After making your parol, you will be invited to shop and grab a drink from 4-5pm.
Cambio & Co. is a Filipino jewelry company empowering the diaspora to #WearYourHeritage. All of their pieces are designed and handcrafted by artisans in the Philippines to create sustainable livelihood and celebrate our roots, everyday without apology.
Café Khela is a mini mobile cafe concept inspired by Filipino kapehan (coffeehouse) and meryenda (snack time) traditions. Melding specialty coffee with quintessential Filipino flavours, while creating comfort, community, and connection with every cozy cup.

Pasko sa Kultura 2025
Hosted by KAPISANAN Philippine Centre for Arts & Culture. Pasko sa Kultura is a Filipino winter arts festival celebrating Filipino/a/x Canadian identity, arts and culture. Pasko sa Kultura marks this generation’s arts and culture movement, championing the Filipino/a/x community, forging new pathways for Filipino/a/x creatives to rise up in the Toronto scene.
After a brief hiatus, Pasko sa Kultura returns in an intimate, heart-forward way. This year’s festival features Kislap ng Kapwa (Spark of Shared Humxnity), a parol installation created through community workshops led by multidisciplinary artist Maria Patricia Abuel, alongside curated performances, a cozy vendor market, and specialty foods from all your favourites. As we come together, we also hold space for our kababayan in the Philippines, who continue to meet typhoons and earthquakes with incredible resilience. Pasko sa Kultura is free and open to everyone—join us as we celebrate light, strength, and community.
