Chosen Narrative
Embedded within every person is a myriad of stories that are waiting to be told. Limited memories from the past, imagined events and spontaneous reflections of the reality, and projections for the future all culminate in one entity: our identity.
These stories collected and now presented in Kwentong Hinirang (Chosen Narrative) through new works of ten artists. These visual diaries depict fragments of lives that we are allowed to enter, some of which depict personal stories of unforgettable moments, while some focus on stories of social, spiritual and cultural importance. Interactive and contemplative, the range of diverse, multi-media works presented do not simply narrate stories as it is; instead it leads to a critical examination of the self and explores the artists’ relationship towards the world (real or imagined) around them.
Works presented here encourage engagement and aims to trigger reflection, not only of the stories, opinions and issues presented by the pieces, but also of you, the viewer, the stories that you carry and the stories you want to tell.
Works Curated by: Marianne Rellin and Caroline Mangosing
