MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP in partnership with EVENT INNOVATIONS

REPORTS TO:

KAPISANAN’S Managing Director and Executive Director and EVENT INNOVATIONS Managing Director, Eileen Rivera.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

KAPISANAN and EVENT INNOVATIONS are seeking a Marketing & Communications interns. Interns will play a key role in the overall public relations efforts. The Marketing and Communications Internship provides a learning experience during which interns participate in all aspects of planning and coordinating marketing, promotions, and outreach for all programming, events and projects. During this program you will have an opportunity to gain experience in the field and enhance your skills while working under the direction of professional mentors. This is a great opportunity for you to gain invaluable experience in marketing with a vibrant and growing organization!

About EVENT INNOVATIONS

Event Innovations is a newly formed company owned and operated by the same folks who run IndieJam Australia and IndieJam Pilipinas. Armed with background and experience in music and artist promotions and touring, as well as event planning, logistics, management and marketing, they have worked with the biggest names and festivals in the Asia-Pacific--including Soundwave Festival (Australia) and Pulp Summer Slam (Philippines). They've also successfully toured Australian bands to the Philippines, playing alongside giants like Lamb of God and Parkway Drive.

Fresh off the plane from the land down under, Event Innovations hit the ground running, participating in events such as the first PLDT Canada Philippine Fashion Week, as well as working with Kanto by Tita Flips and Kapisanan Centre for Philippine Art and Culture within the first three months of their arrival. And this is just the beginning. They're gearing up for a busy summer of fun events, and nothing spells mixing business with pleasure more than working with Event Innovations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS:

  • A creative problem-solver;
  • Pays high attention to detail;
  • Highly motivated and is a self-starter;
  • Organized, responsible and professional, with the ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Good time-management skills; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

RESPONSIBLITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist in writing and distribution of press releases, media advisories, and other internal and external communication material;
  • Assist in drafting, editing, and distributing marketing collateral materials--this includes copy for newsletters, website, flyers, brochures, as well as spotlight videos, and other media presentations;
  • Assist in overseeing branding to refine and strengthen Kapisanan identity and image;
  • Assist in identifying corporate partners through sponsorships, special events and other cause-related marketing and development opportunities;
  • Communicate regularly with Executive Director and Managing Director on the status of the tasks assigned;
  • Complete all tasks in a timely fashion with high quality of work;
  • Carry out all responsibilities in a professional, timely, and effective manner;
  • Perform any other duties and carry out any other requests as directed by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS/INTERESTS:

We are seeking a dynamic, committed young person who has:

  • Keen interest or some background in the arts and culture production;
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
  • Some knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), though we are willing to train;
  • Adept in using social media, i.e., Twitter and Facebook;
  • Has access to a car (not a requirement; however is an asset).

Start date: Immediately

Number of Positions: 2

Work schedule: 2 days/week (Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12pm – 8pm, negotiable) for a 6-month commitment. Attendance to special Kapisanan events is also required. We are willing to work with a university or college to arrange academic credit or high school co-op placement.

THIS POSITION IS UNPAID – Your payment is real world experience under the mentorship of professionals, and/or co-op placement credit.

ARTS PROGRAMS INTERNSHIP

REPORTS TO:

KAPISANAN’S Program Coordinator and Executive Director.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

KAPISANAN is seeking an Arts Programs Intern. The Arts Programs Internship provides a learning experience during which you will get to participate in all aspects of planning and coordinating programming, promotions, and outreach for all programming events and projects. During this internship you will have an opportunity to gain experience in the field and enhance your skills while working under the direction of professional mentors. This is a great opportunity for you to gain invaluable experience in art education with a vibrant and growing organization!

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS:

  • A creative problem-solver;
  • Pays high attention to detail;
  • Highly motivated and is a self-starter;
  • Organized, responsible and professional, with the ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Good time-management skills; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:.

  • Assist in the coordination and administration of KAPISANAN programming, the KAPISANAN Program Development Committee (KPDC) and KAPISANAN’s 8th Annual KULTURA Filipino Arts Festival programming;
  • Assist in coordinating of outreach and marketing collateral for all KAPISANAN programming activities. This includes all print (newsletters, posters, flyers, brochures) and online (email blasts, YouTube, Twitter, blog, website, Facebook, and other media presentations);
  • Assist in identifying strategic partnerships (corporate, community stakeholders, etc.) through sponsorships, special programs and events, and other opportunities;
  • Communicate regularly with Program Coordinator on the status of the tasks assigned;
  • Complete all tasks in a timely fashion with high quality of work;
  • Communicate and collaborate with KAPISANAN Video Production team and Event Planning team in the documentation of KAPISANAN programming;
  • Be professional, courteous, and organized as a public representative of KAPISANAN;
  • Perform any other duties and carry out any other request as directed by the Executive Director.
