Learn Tagalog with the K!

Conversational Filipino Language Program

Flyer for Tagalog Classes at Kapisanan Summer 2013

Filipinos are the fastest growing community in Canada, especially Toronto, and Tagalog is also the most spoken foreign language in the country. Whether you’re new to the language or a fluent speaker looking to practice with others, Kapisanan's Tagalog Classes is a great opportunity to join a fun class that will exercise your tongue and expose you to an exciting culture.

Our Filipino language classes use a direct method of learning a language. The students focus on conversational skills that provide participants with the needed skills to effectively perform basic tasks, such as describing objects, identifying people, locating places, expressing feelings, and telling a simple story. Techniques include watching TV shows, listening to songs, writing basic sentences, playing vocabulary games, and discussing basic topics of interest in dialogue form.

At the end of the program, students should be able to use Filipino in greetings and situations such as telling time as well as asking and giving directions. Our aim is to equip students who complete each level with Filipino language that describes people, objects, places, narrates an event or simple story; expresses feelings, as well as agreement or disagreement.

Curriculum is developed and will be taught by Dr. Robert Diaz.
