The Philippine Canadian Inquirer (PCI) is the first and only nationally distributed Filipino-Canadian free weekly newspaper.

It is published by Philippine Canadian Inquirer, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Symphony 8 Media & Entertainment, Inc., under a publication agreement with a subsidiary of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the Philippines' leading newspaper with the largest circulation and readership.

The PCI is printed weekly and is nationally distributed in the metropolitan cities of Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Calgary. The PCI has an initial circulation of 20,000 issues weekly and will grow as it expands to other Canadian cities.

Its publication agreement with the subsidiary of PHILIPPINE DAILY INQUIRER will ensure the high journalistic quality of the PCI and make the PCI the newspaper of choice of the majority of Filipinos residing in Canada.

Responsibilities: • Generate original stories for and content for newspaper and website • Assist in news gathering and covering of events of Filipino-Canadian communities/organizations in Toronto; Social media networking and promotion of the Filipino-Canadian events • Ability to work at least three full days (2 days independently and 1 day with the Director) for a four-month period (could extend to six months), plus attend various events of Filipino-Canadian communities/organizations in Toronto • Communicate regularly with Director on the status of the tasks assigned. • Complete all tasks in a timely fashion with high quality of work. • Carry out all responsibilities in a professional, timely and effective manner. • Be organized and responsible professional with the ability to function independently and as a team member. • Good organizational and time-management skills; able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. • Perform any other duties; carry out any other requests as directed by the Director.

Qualifications and Interests We are seeking a dynamic, committed young person who is: • Outgoing, creative and fast learner • Has keen interest or some background in journalism, broadcasting • Actively pursuing or completed Bachelor of Arts/ Commerce MBA degree in Mass Communications, or a keen interest in pursuing a career in Media, Marketing and Communications, Public Relations, or related fields. • Well-organized and self-motivated • Strong communications skills, oral and written • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) • Some knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
