Two Saturdays ago, the Kapisanan Centre welcomed music, grilled cheese, candy, doodling boards, and all of the neighbourhood youngin's for a fun all-ages event known as Daps VII!
Started by Daniel and April aka Daps Duo from Hooded Fang, the seasonal concerts invite everyone between the ages of 0 and 150+ to hang out and listen to a great line of local bands play. Saturday's artists/bands included The Grapefruit Colour, Isla Craig, Mirror Phase, and Loom.
The pre-Nuit Blanche party kicked off with a lovely set by The Grapefruit Colour, a young musical duo on drums, guitar, and vocals followed by the dreamy sounds of Isla Craig looping the flute, guitar, and vocals. Next, Mirror Phase and Loom tranced us out with their hypnotizing sets and auras!
*Note: Any show where people are welcome to sit on the floor like a group of five year old’s during story time has definite good vibes. And at Daps All-Ages, this tends to happen.
In between sets, you can treat yourself to some yummy grilled cheese and complimentary candy loot bags. You are also welcome to rub shoulders with strangers and get creative at a doodling station where a large piece of paper and some markers are begging to be played with.
As a Daps concert go-er since the third volume, I've had the pleasure of going to show after show and enjoying good music surrounded by wonderful people in such an inviting and hip atmosphere. Daps shows definitely give all-ages/anti-ageist shows a trendy name. (Thanks Daps Duo!)
Stay tuned for when the next Daps All-Ages show is announced so you can come play and let the inner kid in ya outtt!
