The documentary The Sugar Bowl is a film about an island's colonial scars and the resilience of the people who live there. Set in the island of Negros in the Philippines, the film will cover what's left of the sugar cane industry after Spanish and American colonization.

To kick off the production of this documentary, the filmmakers are having reception tomorrow, March 25, 2011 at Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts & Culture. Also featured in this social event are the works of Lyndel Aguilar and Michaela Cruz from CLUTCH Vol.3.

http://vimeo.com/19732402 The Sugar Bowl production team includes director/producer Shasha Nakhai, who was born in Bacolod City, Philippines. Also on board are co-director Rich Williamson and co-producer Nicole Rogers. Providing the score to the documentary is Filipino-Canadian filmmaker and musician Romeo Candido from Santa Guerilla.
