PSL Week Four: Taking It To The Stage Facilitated by: Len Cervantes Special Guest: Patrick De Belen
PSL Cycle 3 is slowly coming to a close! This week's workshop is the last chance to put some polish on those poetry pieces, just in time for PSL's final slam performance on Saturday, October 2nd for Nuit Brune. We're setting up the stage, dimming the lights, setting up the microphone and plugging in the speakers.
Joining the workshop's wrap up session is your hometown boy, PSL Alum, and newly-minted Up From The Roots Slam Team Member, Patrick De Belen.
Drawing from his experiences since PSL 2, Patrick is going to teach a few tricks to this year's batch of PSLers. Like how he beat a room full of talented and experienced poets to make it on the team to represent Toronto's Up From The Roots at this year's Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. And what he's learned from Dwayne Morgan and fellow Slam Team members since PSL 2 wrapped up in 2009. Hopefully, he'll also share some tips that will help PSLers with their performances for Nuit Brune on October 2 (more info on the event to come). Needless to say, he'll perform some of his work and give feedback to participants.
Haven't been to PSL? Working on a poem/s and have always wanted to get up on stage and share it with others? It's not too late! Come to Kapisanan on September 30 and we'll do our best to get you up on that stage for Nuit Brune. Experienced poets, novices and rookies alike are welcome!
