Back to School with FCAR

Photo By Aaron Ramos / Rowena Jose As the days wind down and the blistering summer sun slowly fades away, here's something to look forward to. The new school year is arriving with lots of opportunities to make more friends, or if you're new, to get in touch with your campus community.

The Filipino-Canadian Association of Ryerson (FCAR) is an organization that caters to the massive Fil-Can student body at one of Canada's best educational institutions. The eclectic council promotes Filipino culture to both those whose taste buds are unfamiliar with chicken adobo... and to those skilled enough to reach the top score at a Halo-halo-oke night.

Yes, FCAR is an increasingly inclusive student group that strives to share the contemporary Filipino experience not just on campus, but also with other Filipino Student Associations in the Greater Toronto Area and many organizations in the city.

Frosh-off-the-boat or not, stop by the FCAR booth on Wednesday, September 8, at Campus Groups Day during Ryerson's Week of Welcome. Don't miss these peeps at the Campus Quad between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is your chance to get involved with one of Toronto's biggest social hubs that can connect you to other young and dynamic Filipinos... best of all, most of their monthly events are free and fun!

Keep an eye out for the KAPISANAN jeepney that will be parked at the booth throughout the day. You may even grab some goodies or go home with a hand-drawn caricature version of yourself. Don't be shy, just say hi!

Hope to see you there!
