Christianity in the Philippines

[*Please Note: In the Philippines the word "Christian" is used solely to refer to Protestants. In the case of the title of this class "Christianity" is used in it's general umbrella sense including all subsets of beliefs around Jesus Christ.] Christianity came to the Philippines with the Spanish. Today it remains the only majority Christian nation in Asia.

What religions were there before? How was the Philippines converted? How does Philippine Christianity differ from Christianity worldwide? How strong a role did and does it play in society?

I'm going to use some of my own photos and stories, as well as some folklore, videos, chants, and traditional dance in this class.
