Babae theatre program
BABAE is an all-womEn, led by women, free 7-week theatre program for young Filipino women and non-binary folks IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SKETCH WORKING ARTS AND FUNDED BY ARTREACH TORONTO. BABAE will explore cultural identity through a woman’s eyes by means of performance and writing. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of acting from seasoned professionals. They will practice theatre through movement, music, writing and more.
BABAE is a 7-week program where participants will partake in workshops led by guest artists every Tuesday. Wednesdays will be dedicated to creation and play with program mentors. Each participant will curate their own short creative performance piece, incorporating aspects covered in workshops. Participants will also have the opportunity to perform/workshop their piece at Kapisanan's 12th Annual KULTURA Filipino Arts Festival, as well as the SKETCH Audio BBQ.

Open to Filipino women and non-binary folks between the ages of 14-25. Experience is not required. However, applicants should have a strong interest in theatre.
